And before the whole "...but Iran said it would wipe Israel off the map..." it's worth noting that the guy who was accused of saying that left office in 2013 and that the actual interpretation later proved that he was referring only to the corrupt powers-that-be inside the Israeli government only.

Iran was one of the first countries to recognise Israel. Up until recently in history (1979) Iran was a secular nation which had a friendly relationship with the U.S and the broader West.

Obama and Kerry know this and are working with the moderate president (Rouhani) who wants a better relationship with the West. The Ayatollahs even understand the benefits a deal could bring. Iranians will benefit as much as the rest of the world. Both sides know it won't be a repeat of the 1950's situation where Iran's oil and gas resources were virtually plundered by major western multinational corporations.

Times are changing. China is now playing with the Big Boys and sees just as many opportunities as the U.S, Britain, France and Russia in such a deal. Needless to say, the economies of those countries need a boost right now.

In fact, a deal might even prevent the global financial crisis the world seems to be in the midst of right now.
