I'm sorry for you that you only behave out of fear of hell.

This question is considered one of the top arguments against Atheism. The attempt to answer the question results in the final answer always being "We just happen to have morals" There have been several hour long lectures by leading Atheists attempting to explain why we have morals. Yet it doesn't seem like anything else around us follows a moral compass, but a naturally created compass versus one of free will.

God created man, and man learned Good and Evil through falling from God, by eating the forbidden fruit, it is this knowledge that drives our moral compass, our knowledge of Good and Evil.

Where does our moral compass come from? From our knowledge of Good and Evil, and from God.

It is true, that the catalyst for many people who enter the religion as a young Christian is that the thought of Hell is a horrible aspect.

As you grow with Christ, you realize that not only is hell terrible, but not being with your loved ones and living with God in heaven forever, is thousands fold much worse than hell could ever be.

To fear hell makes you wise, but to love God and want to be with him forever, makes you even wiser.

I think humans are different than animals and it's not out of fear of hell. In fact, LIFE is different than the physical. I'll play some music. Some will like it. Some won't. Some will ignore it, some will pay attention. You will say that behavior is due to chemical reactions. I don't buy it.

LOL, this is one of the top arguments against Atheism.

Really I could go on and on with bible quotes telling people to kill. And if it's not telling people to kill , it's telling them to "turn the other cheek" in the worst ways.

The bible is insane.

You are free to pursue happiness as long as I'd doesn't infringe on another's pursuits.

Even atheists realize some of the tenets outlined in the bible, not because any god said them but because they are common sense. This common sense existed since the dawn of consciousness, eons before any scriptures. The main one and the one that covers pretty much everything is the golden rule. In this case, if you don't want to get murdered yourself, do not murder others.

I'm not an atheist, but I understand the intent of your question.

First, if you don't do bad things only because a greater authority says not to.... I suggest some serious introspection.

What's wrong with murdering another human?... Theirs is not your life to take. You are robbing them of what is theirs by birthright. Just as you wouldn't want someone to steal your life from you.

Why would we be the only species on the planet to have one, and where did it come from?

3-All species have a moral compass you dont see in nature the mother duck eating her bloody off spring do you! so one could argue ducks have a moral compass ,,but make no mistake if she were hungry enough she might.

Humans too are the same, morality evoled with evolution capitalism too..whether its good or bad varies with degree.. in answer to your question a state of nature where once existed through fierce competition for resources was replaced over time and a basic set of survival rules /morales evolved...and ive said all this without bringing god into the equation.

Its not beneficial for long term survival to murder your own kind. You don't need religion to come to that conclusion, just intelligence.

The question got the results I expected, you surpassed morality and went straight into why you shouldn't murder and said it was "natural" or unhealthy to murder your own kind in the long run.

That's called Morality, we don't kill because we know it's wrong. Animals murder their own kind, and the kind of others all day with out the conflict of morality it's the natural progression God made for them.

God gave us free will, and we stole the knowledge of Good and Evil, if it wasn't for that moment in time, we would of known no evil and this conversation wouldn't exist.

Atheists, simply can not answer "What is morality" and "Where did it come from" to any scientific extent.

If you can't prove something through science as an Atheist than you're having faith that it is scientific, but in reality it's not.

Your God drowned countless babies in the Flood. Shame on you.
