In Canadian elections the votes each neighbourood polling stationat are counted at each station by two paid people hired just for the election. These people are the returning officer and the polling clerk. The chief returning officer for the constituency is obliged to hire poll returning officers from a list submitted to her by the party that won that constituency in the last election. The polling clerk must be hired from a list submitted by the party that came in second. If the parties do not submit comprehensive lists, she can hire anybody she wants from the unemployment office etc.
Parties which did not come in first or second have the right to appoint unpaid scrutineers (usually the same people who canvassed door to door and printed signs during the campaign) to observe the paper ballot counting process.
By midnight, the entire counting process is complete across the entire country.

I have never met an USAmerican who has ever in their life counted ballots, or who even knows someone who has counted ballots. Yet for some reason, they have faith in their system.

I have never heard of an USAmerican election official being appointed by the UN to organise elections in a place like Bosnia, for instance. They only organise elections in place they militarily occupy and no one can challenge the legitimacy of their process.

Because Diebold is compromised and if they would use the machines now people would riot.

So they "compromise" them to install new ones who are even more flawed and easier to hack without getting the people suspicioous...
