How do we download the list of telephone numbers saved in a cell phone onto a computer screen?
The neighbor bought a new cell and they couldn't transfer her list of personal phone numbers she had saved from the old cell phone into the new cell phone. They said there was something with the connector on the old phone.

Anyway, she asked if we could download a list of her phone numbers onto her computer screen, for ease of transfer manually. I am sure there must be a way,and the wife saw some one actually do it at her work.

The old cell is a Verizon VX3100.

Transfer them onto the computer using a usb cable for that phone

Or perhaps, if from the same service provider, she probably saved the phone numbers on the sim card. move the sim card into the new phone, from there, save the phone numbers onto her new phones memory that is available, then plop in her new sim card into her new phone...?

Unless she's using the same sim card, then then get the old phone, but numbers onto sim, then put sim into new phone.

I have a cable, what do I click on after the cell phone is connected to the computer?

Does her cellphone come with some software to view the files on the cellphone, not sure how it'd work since i haven't had to do it

Or maybe in my computer it shows the memory cards/spaces on her cellphone... if you can see them, try moving her phonebook numbers into the memory on her cellphone, and you should be able to see it on the computer

I'm thinking that there is probably software provided that would do that for you...

Thanks Fool, When connected there was a prompt to let Windows go look online for software about the cell phone-but Windows came back after a search online and said for me to install software.

So there must be a disc somewhere that needs to be installed. Will tell my neighbor to look for it when she returns this weekend.

Thanks again Fool, it has been a little while but I wanted to say that everything worked out with the cell phone list. I got the disc, and it transferred the list of phone numbers from the old cell phone to a computer screen.

Print and done; GLP is a helpful site.
