Not so. Nuc reactors radiate and release radiation when they operate NORMALLY.

Steam is what must be contained and controlled because it is was is radioactive in the loop(next to the pile). Because it is highly radioactive.

NO STEAM release is NOT radioactive--notice they do not produce the levels and the workers can't even identify WHERE it is--because it is too radioactive to go into the confinement building at this time.

Gimmie a break shill--that was too easy.

What radioactive waste is generated?

Cobalt 60 is manufactured in a commercial nuclear reactor, by exposing non-radioactive cobalt to intense radiation in the reactor core. Cesium 137 is a by-product of the manufacture of weapons-grade radioactive substances. Thus the supply of these two substances, like that of other radioactive materials used in medicine, science and industry, is dependent on the nuclear industry.

The food irradiation facilities themselves do not become radioactive, and do not create radioactive waste. The cobalt sources used in irradiation facilities decay by 50% in five years, and therefore require periodic replacement. The small radioactive cobalt "pencils" are shipped back to the original nuclear reactor, where they can be recharged for further use. The shipment occurs in special hardened steel canisters that have been designed and tested to survive crashes without breaking. Cobalt is a solid metal, and even if somehow something should break, it will not spread through the environment. Cobalt 60 may also be disposed of as a radioactive waste. Given its relatively short half life(5 years) and its stable metallic form, the material is not considered to be a problematic waste.

In contrast to metallic cobalt, cesium is a salt, which means it can dissolve in water. Cesium 137 sources decay by 50% in 31 years, and therefore are not often replaced. When they are replaced, the old cesium sources will be sent to a storage site in the same special transport canisters. If a leak should occur, there is the possibility that the cesium salts could dissolve in water and thus spread into the environment. This happened at a medical sterilizer facility in Decatur, Georgia in 1992, when a steel container holding the cesium cracked, and some cesium leaked into the shielding water tank.

E-beams and X-ray facilities do not involve radioactive substances.

Not true. Depends on the reactor design.

You toss around terms to sound like you are well informed but really you are not.

The hot steam itself is a greater danger than any radiation released.

Quite well informed ty very little and everything I said is very much correct--please disprove it if you can.

This plant went into operation in 1984--and has been turned down for twenty year extension in '14--only to be approved later. The fourty year "head" is being replaced after only 30 years--there are big problems here--or they are planning a little MOX upgrade. Now we have this.

This design is a PWR utilizing a heat exchanger loop--very similar to what has been used for sometime on US Navy ships.

Yes sir both loops contain radioactivity one much less than the other because it is in dirrect contact with the pile--that one is very heavily irradiated. But the common point b/w the two is the heat exchanger--and it defintly IS radioactive after use. Understand that the use of heavily pressurized water(water liquified despite reaching temps where it phase changes into steam) means that BOTH loops must be fully pressureized at all times while the reactor is in flux. If you worked around Navy piles on ships you know this. The pile areas are heavily shielded and isolated.

It is my understanding that there is two steam loops - one is radioactive, the other isn't.

If the leak is in the reactor building rather than in the turbine room it is likely to be in the primary radioactive loop.

Yes, that would be a bad thing.

But hey, wait for the meltdown - then worry.

If you are accustomed to your quality of life, nuclear power offers the highest energy density available. The problem is an aging infrastructure that is left unattended and outdated systems.

Breeder reactors recycle much of the fuel leaving as little as 5% of the waste that reactors built during the 60's and 70's leave behind.

It's the same story all over the US we are letting our infrastructure fall apart while the banks scam us with ever increasing levels of debt and the politicians pile on ever more debt with entitlement spending, crony deals for their pals and higher salaries and pensions.

Perth--I hope you feel free to repost this from my thread wherever you wish. Wonder what stock,VanneV,DrGH or Obi would say to this?

If this isn't the most clear cut case of nuclear psychopathy, well, I have never seen it more honestly described by one.

Buddy, I get you are a salaryman. I get you no longer care about not only, any other human being on the face of this Earth, but any children or loved ones you may have once had.

That you cannot differenciate b/w the choices people make for themselves, versus the choices made for them that are not only ill informed, but a death cult, is a deep problem. Please listen.

Nuclear enenergy is a world destroying death cult. They have always known of the dangers of these reactors. They guessed at outcomes. They still do. If you drop a bottle of acid on the floor, you can contain it, clean it up, remove it, and mitigate or cure health risks

You know that's not possible with fission.

My knowledge base comes from a physics background related to my work over thirty years around radio-isotopes and nuclear material. I do have a very good understanding of the processes, and a significant portion of the engineering.

My expertise is medicine. I am very conversant with the effects of nuclear material as reported and studied on humans and its primary diagnosis--cancer.

Anyone can spout out gov related articles to disprove these things said by many about the nuclear cabal, because they have had decades to condition people and lie to them. Its very blatantly observed with FUKU, but there are many others. Hidden for a very good reason---no way to justify that kind of problem with a Defense oriented industry--and that's all it really is. We have all been deemed expendable in the race for nuclear superiority and armament.

And profit. Profit you and I cannot even calculate.

But don't try to overtake the conversation with what you deny for your salary. You are wrong. The entire premise is WRONG.

But you can take over the world with it and get rich while you are at it. Who cares who it deforms, who it kills, whose lives are crushed for this merciless cabal of deatheaters--the same ones that try to tell you to smile to deflect mutating radiation in their food, in their air, IN THEM. Who cares where to store it's waste--just spread it out.

The cancer rates are astronomical, not only in this country--worldwide.

Shut them down. Shut them ALL down.

NOW

They have always known.

Prayers for YOU.

It got worse during the 'cool down' process..

[link to www.nrc.gov]

A water pump supplying feed water to the steam generators failed. Operators were then forced to manually operate an auxiliary water pump to supply the feedwater to the still hot system..

This is the problem with Nuke plants. Disasters are usually caused by more than one fault/error but when they do occur, contingency plans can quickly go out the window and operators can be forced to just sit back and watch the disaster unfold before their eyes.

Wonderful technology.

Someone recently posted a link for the PDF book of "How we almost lost Detroit"

[link to wsrl.org]

I finished reading it yesterday and would recommend it

The notion that any event at a nuke facility is a "non-event" is ridiculous
The information they release is way watered down and mostly bs
I'm pretty confident that if you have been told anything at all, then you can bet your sweet ass that there is likely a much bigger problem going on
 Quoting: Sammie

Glad you found it worthwhile. I was hoping that someone would read it and comment back.

I encourage others to read it too, as this is how today's nuclear industry was born. The whole nuclear industry was established upon a corrupt, unstable foundation. The whole industry took off running like a child tripping with scissors, holding one in each hand.

...

IT came from CDC Directly....so....

not surprised....@ ur comment.

It would be interesting however for someone knowledgeable to look into this and....errrr .....share why what they wrote is....'non-fact' and why that is. Please do prove them erroneous on this.....

Looks like scary stuff either way to me....but fascinating ...never the less.

Both of us are. Yet you still post their nonsense two examples are above. Do some research and learn about it.

I'm smelling shill...........

So I went back to the link....'had no clue what so ever about any of this!'

Wondered if someone could explain a few things...basically is this process actually safe(like they are writing on the sight)....ie...apparently it does something to the cells/seeds in some of the fruits/vegetables....(After learning about GMO's....supposedly being safe...according to some, and GMO's not being safe according to others)...

The research for a lay person....isn't easy if they have never even heard of such a thing...hence asking someone who may know something real...explain some in a way I can understand this.

Would not ask the question if I really didn't want to know if this is true or not....or a least someone with some knowledge on this who will share some info.....is this process they describe safe or not...what do you think, know?

What is a shill? Honestly have no idea....(Very new to this venue...but seems to have some people who know things, questions things...that I don't see much of anywhere else so far)

Went back to find more on this via interwebs...found this info at this link: [link to www.organicconsumers.org (secure)]

The point is not to freak you out about it but to open your eyes to the crime against humanity being committed.

Knowledge is power but do your own research and inform yourself so you can judge the veracity of what you read.

Great start!

cheers

Here is another excellent site: [link to enenews.com]

Many very wise people there. The site itself is a news aggregator--so you can find pertinent data instead of fishing thru thousands of papers. Many valuable links for info there.
