It's always either Democrats or Republicans who win the elections

Same reason every other country does it.
3rd party candidates get almost no media coverage meaning we know nothing about the other candidates.

Just like mega corporations and small business, big business always kills the competition and then jacks up the costs when the monopoly is made, so the little independent never rises again.
