Does anyone else put something over your Laptops "Camera" and Cable Box?

So far, I like the trend.

i have black tape over my laptop camera. lol. i always cover the camera lens.

used to in the uk, dont care so much now but if i went back i would i guess.

Good idea for phone! Except I like to make video and upload them to Youtube.... Hmm.. black tape is genius. I have an LG Stylo with that six inch screen, love it - I'd need a little piece of tape for the front and back...

What type of weird things you notice?

If a friend comes over and we talk about... I don't know, candles, (just run with it) and even using that stop sign in the top right corner of your browser... ABcdefghiklmnoP I'll still get ads for candles on the laptop, tv, and phone.

Just weird... I wrote an email and made a phone call to my attorney, talked about money. Suddenly, I was getting this random fake spoof numbers with India's finest "This is Jason" and it's the worst English ever... "You qualify for $1,500 loan." (thick accent) hang up - they won't stop calling, blocking numbers left and right.

You can put tape on the camera but they can still hear you.

That was the First thing I did. Then I checked the settings. I had an older laptop and didn't want a new one because it has mic and cam, but broken screen forced my hand.

I was running Ubuntu 14 but have Windows 8.1 until the free security shit runs out then I will switch back over. I just wanted to check it out alittle for shits and giggles. I want my other OS back.

Couldn't you use a dummy plug in your mic jack to trick the laptop into thinking there was an external mic..The internal one would be off (overruled) due to using the external one right?

Yes its true.I was talking with my grandson about playdoh starting getting ads even suggested videos from youtube.My daughter and I were talking about people doing mushrooms on the phone and then I get youtube videos about how to grow them.I could go on and on.

Same for me. Conversations I have within the house will show up in some form somewhere else - fb ads, Google ads, tv commercials, spam email. Junk real mail,etc. What's really freaky is when I look up info on a topic or item to purchase, etc it will show up in my son's fb feed or Google as a suggested ad...and he doesn't live here. He will call me and ask me if I'm looking to buy so and so because he started getting ads for it.

We both use a MacBook pro. We cover the camera and I have the microphone set to no volume ( can't disable it) but what else can we do to stop the listening? Oh, we also have a Samsung smart TV but Short of unplugging it not sure what to do with that.

I cover the camera on my ipad and laptops. I don't have a camera or mic connected to my desktop.

This has happened to my family too. At first, when I mentioned it, they all thought I was on GLP way too much, but then, my husband noticed it and my son- whole family has tried it and friends. Weird shit.
