Desertwolf User ID: 68991981 United States 08/03/2015 03:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I grew up in western Colorado. In the 1990's the militia movement was everywhere around here, hell they used to have meetings every Wednesday night to educate individuals on all the latest from Rex84 to Continuity of government, at its height around 500 people would attend. These meetings where held right across the street from the federal courthouse btw and was common knowledge to all the locals in the grand junction region. I was in my late teens at the time and was all starry eyed about all the new unique things I was learning that average sheeple didn't know. I learned alot and the biggest thing I learned is the milita is a joke. These people are largely from wealthy cattle, farm and/or orchard owning individuals who pay their taxes drink beer on weekends and watch NFL right after going to a MegaChurch that teaches Name it claim it prosperity doctrine. they are not what the media hypes them up to be. Most are too fat, old or invested in the community to be of any real issue to the Feds. Since that time my worldview has changed dramatically. first I am no longer for state rights I think that is the problem with our country if we only had one system of laws in the country it would go along way to solving most of the issues we have in this country. Most of the waste that occurs in the federal government is due to this they have to deal with each state as a separate entity instead of dealing with them as part of a whole. Second I no longer believe there is a grand conspiracy to subvert our individual liberties, there doesn't need to be all the special interest groups and money to buy politicians who are more than willing to sell out keeps that from ever becoming likely. Now days I tend to see the world as a bunch of people locally who have power because they own all the land that their family homesteaded 100+ years ago fighting to maintain local control from a federal government that is just a bloated bureaucracy, that has become inept at governing anyone. Look at the data collection center in utah they cannot even get that up and running, first it catches on fire second the locals prevent them from getting water and/or water rights. No the movie Idiocracy is a closer view of our future then any nightmares of militia wackjobs. Quoting: Kira mai Kadwalladyr I also know that people experiencing grief do it in ODD ways at times. I agree, I've seen strange things from people grieving. This just comes to mind every time someone says there's no conspiracies.
