My water company waited 2 days to issue a boil advisory
Our water company is owned by Severn Trent, and we have a lot of problems with it. A lot of people have water so nasty that it leaves a dark brown sludge in the bathtubs or sinks. You fill up your bathtub and the water is so dark that you cant see the bathtub through it..

Saturday morning, we had hardly any water pressure. There was some type of malfunction that they had to repair. When the water company was contacted about a boil advisory, they said there wouldnt be one issued. This afternoon, they issued one. So for 2 days people have been using this water without boiling it, and it doesnt look like we can do anything but complain. They have an F Rating with the BBB too.

We drive about a 40 mile round trip, once a week to fill jugs with well water. It helps some but people are still bathing and washing their clothes in this stuff.

Honestly, I am not sure if we have any fracking close by or even how close it would need to be to cause issues like this. Do any of yall know how I can find out?

It looks like there may be some fracking roughly 75-100 miles west of us and a little south of us.

Oh that's just lovely.

I remember in the 1996 floods in southern Oregon all of our sanitation stations gave out and flooded all of our water with sewage.

We had to get ALL of our water from the National Guard for almost a month. Wanted to take a shower? Then a soldier had to escort you to the local YMCA.

Ugh.

Why not set up a Reverse Osmosis system? You can buy a cheap one that handles 40 gallons a day, maybe even more, for $65.

When they frack they go horizontally as well as vertically.
So they could be fracking directly under your house.

We have been checking into a filter system for our house. A lot of people in the area are putting them in. I will do some research on the reverse osmosis system! Thanks for the tip!

That sounds like it was not a pleasant experience. I'd have issues with being escorted to a shower like some prisoner!

We have people here that drive to relatives homes to bathe and wash clothes.

OP - you also might want to consider getting a self-standing gravity filter for drinking and cooking water. Most say they'll filter pond water although I'm just using my Berkey for tap water now.

Berkey, Doulton and Katadyn are some options.

For showers, put some of the filtered water in a solar camping bag. Heat the water in the sun outside and then hang it on your shower.

Hope they fix the problem soon. That water looks pretty toxic. :(

these are good for about 4000 gallons, but they are
sort of a charity that gives filters to third world
people with each purchase.

it would work for some gallons of drinking water in a pinch.

Re: My water company waited 2 days to issue a boil advisory
Giant dumptrucks, loaded beyond capacity 24/7, hauling off the excessive dirt from grading the site and hollowing out the underground tunnel of the soon-to-open Wal*Mart(R) Supercenter(tm) are so overladen, they can only crawl around the curb at 5 mph. They have busted the water main here, but the "city" says the water main burst due to the heat. (because they are fat from being bribed).

Water is brown as shit.
