I remember in the 1996 floods in southern Oregon all of our sanitation stations gave out and flooded all of our water with sewage. We had to get ALL of our water from the National Guard for almost a month. Wanted to take a shower? Then a soldier had to escort you to the local YMCA. Ugh. |

Orchid (OP) User ID: 24217831 United States 08/03/2015 08:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Why not set up a Reverse Osmosis system? You can buy a cheap one that handles 40 gallons a day, maybe even more, for $65. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69717550 We have been checking into a filter system for our house. A lot of people in the area are putting them in. I will do some research on the reverse osmosis system! Thanks for the tip! |
Orchid (OP) User ID: 24217831 United States 08/03/2015 08:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It looks like there may be some fracking roughly 75-100 miles west of us and a little south of us. Quoting: Orchid When they frack they go horizontally as well as vertically. So they could be fracking directly under your house. The shale area they are working in doesnt extend this far. I dont know if that makes a difference or not. |

That sounds like it was not a pleasant experience. I'd have issues with being escorted to a shower like some prisoner! We have people here that drive to relatives homes to bathe and wash clothes. |

Most say they'll filter pond water although I'm just using my Berkey for tap water now. Berkey, Doulton and Katadyn are some options. [link to www.amazon.com] For showers, put some of the filtered water in a solar camping bag. Heat the water in the sun outside and then hang it on your shower. [link to www.amazon.com] Hope they fix the problem soon. That water looks pretty toxic. :( |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 67510075 United States 08/03/2015 08:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | these are good for about 4000 gallons, but they are sort of a charity that gives filters to third world people with each purchase. [link to www.buylifestraw.com] it would work for some gallons of drinking water in a pinch. |

They have busted the water main here, but the "city" says the water main burst due to the heat. (because they are fat from being bribed). Water is brown as shit. |
