Take a look at this atlantic loop and the direction the tropical storms are headed.

Is there a possibility that this could be caused by the heating of the oceans, or is this quite common?
If this is not common does this mean that in the near future the UK should brace itself for hurricane seasons?

well, its just that there has been no huricanes in UK for many many years. There was one in the 80's but this does not mean its going to be regular.
