Factor in how many more would be required to take large cities, and that whittles it down to maybe half a dozen per suburban town. Less than most local police departments. Population wise, that equates out to about 1 armed Government agent per 100 military age men in the United States. Martial law can not happen in the US, it's mathematically impossible. You cannot occupy from the air, we found that out in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Air Force will be useless. |

Just seal off the troublesome areas and let them kill themselves off. Or hit them with chemical or biological weapons. The gloves will be off. I wouldn't expect them to fight fair, and neither should you. What exactly would their endgame be at that point? Why would they want Martial Law? Why not just continue as they are doing now, and control the masses completely via the media? Obviously as you point out, using the deadliest weapons at their disposal, the Government could wipe out any resistance. But there would be nothing left to rule. I only wish they would make such a move... it would be our only chance. But modern technology means they can have their cake and eat it too... why declare war now, in 10 years armed drone swarms will make rifles obsolete, and they will be free to do as they wish from the safety of a bunker. They will never ban guns, they will just wait it out until they are no longer a threat. |
