The most epic battles in human history
I'll nominate two:

The Battle of Stalingrad. That's where the Soviet Union stopped the Nazis and destroyed an entire German Army (6th Army led by General Paulus). First we desperately defended the city and then, after the breakthrough at the Don front, the Germans put up a fierce fight to the end.

The Battle of Thermopylae. The severely outnumbered King Leonidas fought to the end and stopped the superior armies of Xerxes I. Unbelievable fight.

The Battle of Gaugamela

Alexander (Macedonia) 35,000 +

Darius (Persia) 200,000 +

It is said that Alexander only lost 100 + men.

Well as a Belgian:

GuldensporenSlag in 1302: a battle between the forces of the Kingdom of France and the County of Flanders fought near Kortrijk (Courtrai) in western Royal Flanders on 11 July 1302. Flanders kicked some French butt that day ;)

Battles of Ypres between 1914 and 1918: he Battle of Ypres was during World War I, in the general area of the Belgian city of Ypres, where the German and the Allied armies (Belgian, French, British Expeditionary Force (B.E.F.), and Canadian) clashed. There were hundreds of thousands of casualties.

Re: The most epic battles in human history
The Battles of the Isonzo, 1915-17 I'm not saying that front was the most epic but it was pretty epic. It was positioned high in the Alpine peaks. Nothing like this before or after.
