I have a question for you guys, have you heard about lucid dreaming? for example is there something you wish you could do without facing any consequences for it? apparently this is possible.. In case you haven't heard of this concept before, It is the act of realizing that you are dreaming and taking control of your dream.

You have probably read about it before or seen movies about it, but the truth is.. apparently millions of people around the world are actual practitioners of this art. The other day I was watching the movie Inception and it blew my mind to know that people can actually do this.

So while I've find out there are many techniques to induce lucid dreaming, you can apparently also go for the fast lane and obtain a lucid dreaming mask to help you lucid dream every night.. anyways I recently found a cool lucid dreaming website called the lucid experiment which explains further, [link to thelucidexperiment.com] in case you want to check it out

anyone here practices lucid dreaming? How difficult is it to have one? the website claims it is not that difficult but I want to know if anyone here has actually tried it.

Actively but I'm sort of a natural. Difficult as figuring out you're dreaming, keeping a dream diary will help.

Re: Are there any lucid dreamers in here? I just discovered it and it"s blowing my mind!
I have a small concise book called lucid dreaming in 30 days. Long story short keep a journal & penlight under your pillow & date & record every detail of your dreams every single day. It had a chapter on dream flying & whirling which was interesting. I had my first lucid event a few days ago, I was able to recognize I was in a dream performing some sort of endless catastrophic loop & instead of waking up I imagined dropping whatever I was holding & shooting into the sky instead. It didn't seem to last long before I woke but it was quite thrilling to feel in control.

Beware where you go.
Beware who you challenge.
Beware those you meet.
Do not take drugs, and do not smoke anything.

If it challenges you, pay attention.

When you're at that level, you can alter your subconscious mind and ego, kinda like a huge box with buttons.

The secret is this:

When you sleep, if you can lucid dream and become aware
Make yourself go to sleep in your lucid dream
You reach the same scale of time distortion from reality to the waking world

You can induce lucid dreams. Do this on a weekend: wake up early if possible, eat a big breakfast (eggs, toast, hash browns, corn beef hash, whatever, etc....), follow up w a large 32 of water, and go back to sleep if you can. I've found that I can float around the house, levitate, etc. about 2 out of 3 times guaranteed. It sucks when it's paralysis and that creepy "someone's in the room watching" trip though.

I get them every once and a while by accident. Most recently this past week. It always happens when something ridiculous happens in one of my dreams so then I realize I'm dreaming. If I don't immediately open my eyes then I have a lucid dream. I am trying to get to the point where I can get them at will.

Re: Are there any lucid dreamers in here? I just discovered it and it"s blowing my mind!
Honestly this is one of my favorite things to talk about because ever since a young age I could think about something right before bed and dream about it all night long. I've been everything in my dreams, an astronaut, an important world leader, a warrior, slayed many a monster, tumbled with many lovers, anything I want I just have to think about and for those 8-10 hours a night I get it. Just imagine how hard it is for me to wake up and actually deal with the monotony of everyday life when I know that if I close my eyes I can be anyone or do anything I want to do. When I was on drugs and without for a couple days dreaming of being high was the only thing that kept me going through some tough times. Although even nowadays I'll still have a "using" dream once in a while for the most part they are rare.

Everyday life begins to become boring and uneventful, I've slept and dreamed the most amazing things I can't even describe some of the things I've done or seen in dreams...I love it. I'm a dream addict and just think about how hard it would be to put that crazy adventure down for half the day while you go toil in some factory, suffice to say I always hit the snooze button until it wore out and quit working! Then I threw the alarm clock into the garbage and said FUCK IT.

Now I'm older and trying to balance the real world and the dream state I find myself in every night, and what I find most shocking of all is some people DON'T dream, or so they'll tell you, but I couldn't imagine an existence without dreaming, that's both my reward and escape from daily life. For a few years there I was having trouble keeping the two existences apart, people would call me and I'd answer the phone in a deep sleep and sit there and talk their ear off all night, then the next day they'd ask me about something we had talked about the night before and I had no idea that we had even talked, sure enough I'd check my phone and it would say I had hours long conversations, but all the mean time I was off on my nightly adventures somewhere in the far reaches of the universe in a strange alien land commanding a fleet of starships as we attacked fierce entities who demand the destruction of all mankind and will settle for nothing less!

I often wonder maybe THIS is the dream, and when I'm asleep doing my thing every night maybe THAT is real life? Pretty deep shit. Last night I was back in the Iron Age sword fighting against a nemesis because I didn't go into the night with any specific thoughts in my head so sometimes my imagination just takes over and does it on its own...but when i was younger say I'd have a crush on a hot chick I'd just think about being with her and go to sleep and I'd rock her world all night long. Crazy shit. Imagination is larger than us sometimes. And much more fun.

I don't know if it's true but think I read somewhere in that website about time travelling in the lucid dream. Like apparently it is so real that you sometimes you question if you actually time travelled or not. I mean in the sense that there are theories that state you can actually travel inter-dimensionally within these deep states of mind.

Re: Are there any lucid dreamers in here? I just discovered it and it"s blowing my mind!
I used to lucid dream a lot, and have many 'false wakenings' (they were really freaky as you think you are awake but are actually still dreaming). Haven't had any for a couple of years though. Don't know why, I'm trying to get back to it and do it on demand rather than waiting for it to happen so practising various techniques when I can remember to do them.

Those who have had them know how real they are - in fact until something weird happens to trigger the realisation that you are sleeping you can't tell thge difference between real life - except everything is far more vivid.

There are some fascinating cases on record, and one that sticks in my mind was a young kid. He got up, got dressed, got on the school bus, chatted to his mates and went into school. Something freaky happened (can't remember but say a monster appeared or the ground started melting); this triggered the memory of the last thing he did - which was go to sleep. He then woke up. He realised he'd had a false awakening and was freaked out. So he got up and went to school telling all his friends about the strange experience he'd just had. After a few minutes in class, something weird happened to trigger him into realisation he was again dreaming and he woke up in a sweat. Yes, another false awakening!

By now he was thoroughly spooked and was a little rattled when he got up and again went to school, checking everything on the way, is this really real, is that really real, examining his friends, sounds, smells. He began to relax and make his way to school until yes, he again woke up realising it was yet another false awakening. I think he had another one before he finally woke and went to school for real. But I always wondered, how would he ever be certain? LOL I bet he kept staring at the teacher wondering if she was gonna change into some weird creature, or some other 'gotcha'. Poor bastard.

Ironically, the act of always asking when you do repetitive tasks 'is this real or am I dreaming' does bring on more lucid dreams or false awakenings (which is really just a lucid dream involving waking up and going about the day as usual). The habit continues so you will find yourself asking it when it IS a lucid dream, and at that point you will have the realisation and things will shift into the usual dream like state. If you focus on something constant, like your hand, the dreamscape stabilises and then you can take control of it.

Re: Are there any lucid dreamers in here? I just discovered it and it"s blowing my mind!
If you think about it lucid dreams are actually 'against' how science perceives the brain to work. When you are 'dreaming' you are unconscious, ie the conscious mind has no ability to reason or question. It is just a passive viewer of the brain firing neurons. And yet lucid dreaming is just that, you have full conscious awareness. Unlike normal dreams you can take complete control and are not a passive viewer, and of course it is not a 'dream like' experience it has the reality of waking life.

I've heard of surgeons who regularly lucid dream and they use it to practice their techniques. This carries over into real life and the skills they have consciously practiced in the dreamworls are used in the waking world.

I have not escaped earths atmosphere yet though, only made it up to the telephone wire heights.

Flying feels amazing dance
But I have also noticed that sometimes the dreams get really strange, and can't control them. So it becomes more of a nightmare..

I believe this phenomenon is a key to understanding the complexities of the brain.

Anyway

Not even sure if those things I listed are possible. The mind is so powerful, I wouldn't rule it out.

Was debating whether to tell you this, don't want to create any blocks for you but I've decided to warn you. Be very careful when you do Lucid Dreaming, you are going to find that the better you get at this the darker it's going to get.

What starts as enjoyable and 'Mind Blowing" becomes something else as other "people" begin to appear. When I first began to do OBE's I would often scare myself back into my body whenever I caught sight of that silky spiderweb like umbilical that connects your physical body to your astral body, over time that chord will become thinner and thinner and then you will catch site of your sleeping body and a variety of things scurrying by your body which will resemble a decaying leaf, a shell, you are going to be shocked but the truly frightening thing is your lucid dreaming will begin to manifest itself into your waking reality.

You need to tether yourself to your body somehow, do not get lost, keep familiar objects near you as you sleep, something that's been with you as long as you've been here on this earth. If you start to feel as if you are going a little mad and you will, find a new hobby immediately. If your health begins to decline rapidly, you need to find a new hobby immediately, I understand how exciting and new this seems but be warned there is the other side of that spectrum.

You are going to start feeling stalked by entities that never seem to quite materialize to the others you explain this too, but these entities are going to be real and frightening to you. Make your own construct and create your own world when you are dreaming. DO NOT stray into unknown territory.

I stopped OBE's in my late 20's because I believe I almost died, I saw it actually and the terror of the event propelled me back into my body, I was lucky because my astral body was just torn to pieces by what I can only describe as vampires but the truly disturbing thing is the way they will make appearances in the physical world, You might find that you come into possession of some strange abilities, I could tell when phones were about to ring, could tell you the next song up on the radio, and I knew things about strangers that I just met that I had no way of knowing

I'm 15 years removed from the OBE and yet I can can still glimpse it occasionally and it just scares the hell out of me. I know of two "doorways" inside myself that I can pass through into the astral world. One is in the middle of my forehead and the astral body just kind of floats out of the physical body, second is a "doorway" at the back of my head that's is difficult to locate, but it's there and it's a very quiet, very dark place, similar to "the further" in the movie "insidious" Wanna talk to ghosts and demons or become one yourself? then I would recommend the out of body experience. You wanna have a happy fulfilled life then I'd pick up the guitar or keyboard or paint or even record your dreams. when it starts to get sinister you need to get out and you need to be very careful

Every Astral Projection story I've ever heard talks about the "silver cord" or tether that keeps you from becoming fully separated and lost from your body. Did you not have one?

And the entities you describe are well know and it is known they can't do any real harm, the can only send you back to your body.

Re: Are there any lucid dreamers in here? I just discovered it and it"s blowing my mind!
A few weeks ago, I asked a question on this forum, GLP. And ever since I've had a recurring dream. The same person, although not in clear face, is there and I am not sure what is going on but I've been thinking it has to do with this forum, lol! I'm sort of happy about it, actually. Since I've been injured, I don't get to speak to many people, and it's nice to have so many deep conversations with someone who always shows up when I fall asleep. Is that lucid dreaming? I'm not sure. But I'm starting to realize who is doing this and this person is clearly dead (or at least in the papers they are dead). Maybe they're a glp spirit of some sort who enters the dreams of posters here.
