B.C. fires: Rock Creek fire destroys 29 homes...Ours survived it....thanks for the prayers

Residents in British Columbia's Okanagan region found out on Sunday morning that 29 homes and 11 other structures were damaged or lost to one of three major wildfires burning in the region.

Hundreds of residents who fled their homes due to the fast-moving wildfires were waiting to find out if they could return to them today.

Over 600 evacuees in the area around the Rock Creek wildfire, which is about 130 kilometres south of Kelowna, have registered at a nearby reception centre after being told to leave on Friday night.

Fire officials say it's still too dangerous for the evacuees to go home. The fire was estimated to cover 3,750 hectares late on Saturday night and by Sunday was still burning out of control, according to officials.
