Christianity makes no sense to me...

So God loves us so much that he sent his son to be painfully murdered to prove it? How exactly is the sacrifice of one's son a display of love? Causing pain and death is actually the opposite of love! If a human sacrifices their son they are considered evil, but when God does it, it's love?

If he is omnipotent and infinitely intelligent, then couldn't he find a way to save us that doesn't involve his son being brutally murdered?

Is it also love when he condemns his children to be tortured, just because they don't believe the Bible to be literally true? Is it love when a murderer goes to Heaven because he's a Christian, but a peaceful Buddhist goes to Hell? I can't comprehend those morals...
