Face it, you use free windows, you are the product. MS got paid to backdoor and skim your data to the gov, while they get paid again to make a piracy free ecosystem for participating developers. I've been in technology since '78 when I first learned basic. I was a network architect and administrator through the early 90's and started working with a firm that uses MS technologies for some time now. Implementation and Security is a big part of this role.

Just like you guys, I like a good DOOM story, but this is really a nonstarter. I did have my doubts a few years ago and was rather disgusted with MS when Snowden revealed the MS, Apple, Google, etc cooperation in colleting private data for the NSA. Disgusting. However, since then, I believe MS has woken up and have cleaned up their act.

This is not the Windows 10 EULA (End User Licensing Agreement), it's the MS Services EULA that is included in the overall EULA. I think people are blowing this out of proportion. This only applies to MS technologies AFAIK.

Seriously, there are privacy concerns with data. MS is guilty of that for sure but it's still not as intrusive as Google or Apple. Take a minute and read their EULA's. They are practically draconian in comparison.

Yeah. At least you don't have to worry about having pirated games on your computer, because nobody makes games for linux.

Well that is funny because I have been using uTorrent and torrenting my ass off even after upgrading to Windows 10. That said there is enough provisios in the EULA that I won't be using Windows 10 very long. I am currently researching how to install a flavor of linux onto my Surface Pro 3. Worse comes to worse I use my Surface for all my mundane shit and a beater box linux laptop for everything else like talking to you fine people.

But seriously, stop being so alarmist about things we have known about for since forever. Everyone knows any big label business in tech today has gotten their stature by doing the dirty with the devil. The Military Industrial Complex MADE Silicon Valley, after all.

Finally, there are a ton of open source and free products out there to keep you safe and free to do as you wish. And for all the nay sayers in this regard I will re iterate what I already said elsewhere: If you think it would be easy to create a backdoor into an open source program and not have someone (or hundreds of someones) catch it immediately, you are looney birds. Even TOR, a proxy program I was very suspicious of for a long time is redeemable from its military origins because of this one redeeming quality: it is open source and thus accessible on a bit level to anyone who cares to check it out under the hood, and thousands if not millions of programmers have.

Only idiots will upgrade to Windows 10. Its a trojan horse.

They are giving it away for free to those with Windows 7 and 8, then one year later they will charge all of the people that upgraded a monthly subscription fee to get critical updates and continued use.

Those that dont want to pay the monthly subscription will still be able to continue using the first release of Windows 10, they just wont be able to get the upgrades, the security patches, and the other addons.


Users wont realize that they will be backed into a corner with no way of reverting back to Windows 8 or 7 unless they fully format and reinstall the OS.

Wooooow so many people that can't read (including the source website) !!! For a starters this is not the EULA !!! It's the terms of use (service agreement) of their online services ( [link to www.microsoft.com] and do not apply to Windows 10 but to the online services, so in another words it's the terms of use for thing like Skype, xbox live all their online services inclding Windows app store....(counterfeit games) - unauthorized hardware = xbox 360/xbox one which are modified for hacked games for example.

As a 100% anti-piracy advocate, this is sickening.

It isn't Microsoft's place to spy on their customers and fondle their private files, just like it isn't the TSA's place to shove their hand up your rectum, just like it isn't the NSA's place to monitor our e-mails.

It was brought it up in Microsoft's info session regarding Windows 10 back in April. Just do a search online and you'll find the articles about it.

Basically they said they wont be charging an annual fee, and that users who upgrade to Windows 10 can use it for free. When they were asked whether this meant that users will be charged a monthly subscription fee, or that a pay-per-addon type of system would be implemented a year after release ..... they refused to give their word that Windows 10 (including minor and major releases) would remain completely free for everyone forever. They would only give their promise that the first Windows 10 release would remain completely free.

Also few of their staffers accidentally mentioned on Twitter and social media that they were working on the subscription and addon system for Windows 10. (Which were deleted after various sites ran stories about it).

I don't take issue with this. Op .. You do understand that pc game piracy is the major reason more games aren't made. I can't stand people who pirate. You lack appreciation of the art form.

So software is a substance... and we should all do as we are told because the law makers know whats best in their divine knowledge.

Also forgot to add, Microsoft went ahead and is preparing the domain called Windows365 (which they purchased when they were working on Windows 10).

So they will probably rebrand Windows 10 as Windows 365 and force everyone into subscription like they are doing with Office 365.

my games are all running ok under windows 10. No issues here.
