I need help with this math question
Smart math people please help.

A company bought 30 equal cakes brand A and 40 equal cakes brand B, paying a total of $ 1,800.00. Knowing that the ratio between the unit prices of cakes A and B is 2 to 3, in that order, it can be said that if the company had only bought cakes of the Y brand, how much more it would have spent?

a=price of a
b=price of b
a=2/3b

30a + 40b = 1800
30(2/3b)+40b = 1800
20b+40b = 1800
b=30 (price of cake b)

Total to spend if all 70 cakes are b: 30*70=2100
Extra spent: 2100-1800=300

Re: I need help with this math question
450 was wrong

here is my revised answer

total 1800

cake a 30

cake b 40

1800 / 70 = 25.71428571428571

25.71428571428571 * 3 = 77.14285714285713
25.71428571428571 * 2 = 51.42857142857142

60/40 % ratio.

60% of 1800 = 1080
40% of 1800 = 720

720 / 40 = 18
1080 / 30 = 36

cake a $18 each
cake b $36 each

70 b cakes @ $36 each = 2520

720 extra would be spent buying 70 b cakes.

If I understand this, one doesn't need to know the per-cake average price. It's enough to find the cost of b, then how much more than $1800 it would cost to buy 70 of them.
