I'm in Yonkers which is right next to the Bronx. I would say about 70% of the streets I have been on lately have construction going on near the gas lines


I go on a lot of streets because I drive a commercial vehicle for delivery

Yes, but NYS has stringent building codes and they are enforced. Before you even tough anything you have to call the utility companies and they literally mark out, in different colored spray paint, where the gas lines and other utility lines start, from the street and they give you a map of how they are on the property. If you do anything before this is done, they shut you down and fast and it delays you even more than if you had followed the law.

Quite the presence for a small explosion that injured 3 people...

I think she meant opening up and getting ready for classes to start back up.

School already started in my area, it must start later on the east coast.

School doesn't start until September 9. A clean up of all city schools is always done in the weeks prior to school starting and, sometimes even construction is done. It's perfectly normal, have seen scaffolding on the day before school is scheduled to start, it's gone the next day, school cleaned and shiny for opening day. The students would have no idea there had been any construction/clean up except that everything is shining and sometimes new.

Several of those fire trucks appear to be hazmat response. I didn't see ladders or hoses. Plus you can clearly see a HAZ on one of them.

Wtf . Seriously this is not just an explosion. More to this.
