Typhoon Goni gone mad, now equal to a major hurricane!
After weakening as it lashed the northern Philippines, Goni has since strengthened with its intensity now equal to that of a major hurricane in the Atlantic or eastern Pacific oceans. Goni left 15 people dead, mainly due to landslides, in the Philippines

Goni and the worst of its fury should track just to the west of the rest of the Ryukyu Islands into Monday, but the powerful typhoon will still pass close enough to produce damaging winds of 95 to 130 kph (60 to 80 mph) and rainfall of 75 to 150 mm (3 to 6 inches).

Conditions will begin to deteriorate across western mainland Japan on Monday before Goni barrels through with flooding rain and damaging winds on Monday night through Tuesday.

High waves hit Haeundae Beach in Busan as Typhoon Goni approaches the southeastern part of the country, Monday.
The tropical storm is expected to be the closest one to approach the country this year, and the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) and security authorities have advised people to take precautions against possible damage.

The 15th typhoon of the year is expected to reach 300 kilometers off the east of Jeju Island at around 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The advisories will be expanded to Busan, Ulsan, Daegu, and some parts of Gangwon and North and South Gyeongsang provinces, and the East Sea by Tuesday evening.

"Goni will be this year's first typhoon to directly affect inland parts of the country," a ministry official said. "It is forecast to bring strong winds and heavy rain, so people living in regions easily affected by floods or landslides are advised to take extra caution."

The Korean Peninsula will start to feel the direct impact of the typhoon tomorrow. It will trigger heavy rainstorms nationwide. The eastern regions will be hit the hardest....
Up to 300 millimeters of rain is expected especially in eastern provinces over the next couple of days
. And southern regions will also see downpours of up to 200 millimeters before the system clears out by Wednesday afternoon.
The Korea Meteorological Administration has issued pre-typhoon advisories for port cities and islands across southern and eastern coastal areas as they will be hit by strong winds and high waves.
Due to the passing typhoon temperatures will be much cooler tomorrow.
The daytime high in Seoul, Daegu, Gwangju and Busan will only climb to 25.
