Federal Banking Rules on Withdrawing Large Sums of Cash
I was wondering WHAT THE RULES ARE so I thought I'd share them.

"Federal law allows you to withdraw as much cash as you want from your bank accounts. It's your money, after all. Take out more than a certain amount, however, and the bank must report the withdrawal to the Internal Revenue Service, which might come around to inquire about why you need all that cash."

"In general, banks must report any transaction involving at least $10,000 in cash. ..."

"... if you went to your bank in the morning and withdrew $5,000, then went to a different branch in the afternoon and took out another $5,000, the combined transactions would trigger a report to the IRS. ..."

"... If you come into the bank every day for a week and withdraw $8,000, you could expect the bank to file a report. ..."

Yeah, I know. I have no idea why I am sitting here worried about what to say if the bank teller asks me why I need so much cash out of the bank today. Of course, I just want it.in case everything plummets... But I don't want them to think I'm crazy, or put me on the IRS looney list. I don't know why I feel embarrassed/ashamed to go get my own money.

Anyone else have these weird feelings?

Give them the "dead fish" look and ask them if they have any business knowing what my business it. They didn't ask why so much money was deposited, so why should they know why so much of YOUR MONEY is being withdrawn.

Alternatively, explain that the banks have been identified as nurturing crime and coruption, and you have never liked supporting criminal activity, that THAT, is in fact a crime.

Yeah, great way to piss your banker off, and increase your chances of hitting that "list."
Within the surreal depths of "reality" lies the truth.
