The epicenter, was 61 km (38 mi) northwest of Richmond. It was an intraplate earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8. I live east of Philadelphia in New Jersey, 280 miles northeast of Richmond. We are due for a big one around here Quoting: i'sopen  I'm no earthquake expert but I watch the EQs everyday and am interested in the New Madrid because I live in the Midwest. I see them every now and then in that area and usually in Covington. But still not nearly as frequently as the west coast, Oklahoma or Puerto Rico. New Madrid is overdue but I read an article which said the Oklahoma quakes may be releasing pressure from the New Madrid. Just a thought. follower of Jesus |
