The only tribulations that can help us, must come from within, to help us see our selves so we are able to repent. That is how we can develop a personal relationship with God.

The Book of Revelation and all the strong expressions about tribulations and upheavels are symbolic reflections of the suffering needed as a judgment from God to cause us to repent of sins and so that God can heal us from them.

Each time a believer sins, however undeliberate, God judges him so that he can be healed of it. Most of the Revelation is thus a book for the personal healing process, where Jesus reigns with a rod of iron in the heart of the believer through the Holy Sprit.

The most important I think, is to pray to God of forgiveness every day and ask others of forgiveness of trespasses and forgive others if necessary.
