I've suffered from Chronic Migraines my entire adult life... we're about the same age by the way. we're not talking about the little headache and take a few excedrin and a you're right as rain.

No, I'm talking about something like someone is splitting your fucking skull open with a dull axe type pain. All you can do is lie in bed or sit in a chair in a perfectly constnt position... even moving your head or standing up can change the balance of pressure in your skull and it;s brutal to say the least. Light, sound, temperature... everything can feel like your head is going to explode.

I tried everything over the years medical or holistic... drink a gallon of water because it a hydration issue... no it's not.

Finally I saw a neurologist in NY that told me that Amitryptaline had (among other things apparently) been shown to be effective against clusters and chronic migraines. I had tried everything else in the world... literally 10 different formulations of inhibitors and vasoconstrictors (sumatriptan) type medications.

Nothing worked and I got the new meds.

The first day it happened and I felt like my skull would explode and split in half and I took One of the Amityrp and it was like a weight was lifted off of m and my migraine was gone and there was no pressure and I could see again (migraines can give you distorted vision).

That is the only drug I've ever taken that could kill a
brutal migraine in it's tracks for me.

At least that's one good thing in it's favor I guess.

Oh man let me tell you what happened yesterday. I was at my son's "psychiatrist" appointment because his mom put him on addoral. Omg I want to beat the shit out of the psychiatrist. He had him on 15mg of amphetamines.... And was telling his mom that it would make our lives soooo much easier if we taght him to "pop pills" because currently he's limited to meds that we can sprinkle on foods.

I almost lost it when he suggested we play the ant eater game, where he sucks bread crumbs though a straw and gets a penny for everyone he swallows..

Here's the most fucked up part, he said that at some point he wants to put him on an SSRI to calm him down along with the ADHD drugs...

Mind you, my son is six years old. I don't know what the fuck to do.

Just curious as to what mg the doc started u out on?
And do u still take it and if so what mg are u on?

Also I do remember extremely and very detailed dreams and they to were not nightmareish at all and pretty much LMAO funny/stupid ones lol.

Anyway as I posted in my post that I didn't really have any type of bad trip as I said my ex wife was on my bed at one point and shortly followed by a good friend of mine.

All I really thought that was strange is that neither one of them would ever say anything lol.
I do remember thinking that I really must've pissed them off lol.

This med in that drug class is one of the more safer ones. The newer anti-depressive drugs are far more dangerous.

This drug does make you sleepy. I know a few people on this and nothing too bad has happened other than increased sleep.

I'm so sorry to hear of these experiences as a person suffering from insomnia.

Only take the old stuff if you have to, klonopin, small doses.

My next step is to investigate acupuncture. I don't want to take anything.

And well,,, I think after reading a lot of replies about this drug and the great experiences w it many have had especially with migraine headaches that maybe it's not such a bad drug afterall in that aspect.

I am now thinking that the Dr prescribed me to high of milligrams especially to start out on at 100mg in which I think is way way overkill!

I've never had a migraine headache but from what I've read it really helps w those having them.

I just wouldn't start out on anymore than 25mg.

Please don't take this as set in stone as I'm no Dr whatsoever as again it's just my opinion and MY conclusions I've come up w from first hand experience and a lot of reading!!
