The point is that they don't have any personal items. No figurines, vases, action figures, movie posters, art, plants, aquariums, plastic bins, shelves, books, dvds, cds, etc, whatever.

Beyond the furniture there's not much to personalize the space.

Make what you want of that but the OPs original point is valid. They are similarly devoid of personalization.
