So how about this whole crashing trend just stops now. I don't want a plane going landing in our warehouse - I can't afford to not be working! Quoting: Copernica (and since we overlook the airport - I'm not exaggerating about the warehouse! The Thunderbirds will probably deafen us and shake the whole building. YAY!) Thunderbirds were at our show Memorial Day Weekend...they parked at my local airport - and flew over my house MANY times! SOOOOO LOUD but SOOOO COOL |

He flew for "Skytypers", a well. Here's an article on him, from just yesterday [link to www.recordonline.com] Saw them back in June. They were awesome as always! Married to a ginger |

The high definition photos taken of the plane crashing was bone chilling. Probably because I had met her at an air show a few months before Her name was Jane. You should see those photos ... Very sad.. |

SOOOOO LOUD but SOOOO COOL I prefer the Blue Angels - but the Thunderbirds are ok. The BA's used to fly so close to my old house, I could see the pilots. And man did they rattle the timbers! I like the Blue Angels better than the Thunderbirds, as well. The Marines fly lower, faster, and closer to the crowd, while the AF Thunderbirds show is very regimented, crowd kept back 1/2 a mile, etc. Now, if you want to see a show that will take your breath away, try the Snowbirds. |

Air shows are cool, used to live close to a AFB and watch the ThunderBirds and blue angels sitting on the roof of my house. they would be so low you could literally see the pilot looking at you, it was neat .. are house was about the distance at which they would slow and turn back towards the main show at the AFB. They would do slow turns and group into formations literally over our back yard. the week that the airshow was in town was really a amazing time, should have alot more of them, they dont do airshows now after the Clintons closed our AFB |

The more experienced pilots liked to view from some distance away. I asked them why (I was very young), and they said the closer the plane is to the ground the more deadly the error. Still, loved air shows back in the day. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 43816434 United Kingdom 08/28/2015 06:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There was a photo of the plane missing its tail mid-air on this twitter account but the guy pulled it since people started reposting it without permission. Quoting: Dr. Astro [link to twitter.com (secure)] Catastrophic failure, for sure. Looks like the tail snapped along a stress fracture. Not surprising, considering the forces he puts on it. Probably overlooked it, or pulled to many G's in the maneuver, and over-stressed it. Carbon-fiber, as designed by Burt Rutan, is 40 years old now, but we still don't know how far we can really go with it. Well in the McLaren factory they test the exact torsional strength of carbon fibre, twisting it until it snaps. Turns out is much stronger than steel in that test. That is fresh modern carbon fibre of course. |

Modern design-built aerobatic aircraft could "Fly" on horsepower alone, but without the vertical stabilizer, the ailerons alone can't displace enough force to keep the aircraft from spinning with the centrifugal force the engine and propeller creates.
