I remember when politicians first started spouting the lie that there was such a thing as a job that an American wouldn't do. In the beginning, these politicians were strongly heckled for it if they said it live in front of a crowd, so they had to switch over to only saying it on TV. It was one of those lies that was just too ridiculous to be said in an uncontrolled environment. I never thought a day would come when anyone would actually believe the lie.
