It's most likely China hitting japan, retaliating for the US hitting china. Japan is a US ally, right next door to China... makes sense CHina would go after locations in Japan.

a port in china gets hit, a steel factory and a now an aluminum factory in japan... this is what you do in a war you hit resource and economic facilities / locations, things that will cripple your enemies ability to manufacture weapons.

Russian favor to China, by all accounts.

Chinese seem to be the only ones who don't have orbital weapons platforms at this point (fully operational ones, at least). They do have anti-satellite ground-based missile systems, but those don't seem to be able to reach geostationary orbit where weapons platforms are most likely to be located (since distance in vacuum doesn't affect lasers that much, or certainly several orders of magnitude less that ionosphere).

At this point, Chinese don't have any proper response to U.S. orbital weapons, save for nuking the orbit... or asking favors from Russians.

What I'm surprised at, though, is that both sides (U.S. and Russia) seem to be targeting ground facilities exclusively and not each others orbital platforms. That's a bit strange... but not that surprising.

It's been obvious for some time that the most logical and obvious solutions are never chosen. Instead, only those "solutions" that lead straight to a global nuclear exchange are picked by all sides.

If one were paranoid enough, one could even conclude that all sides (U.S. Russia and China) receive their marching orders from the same source.

The less paranoid ones find this "coincidence" simply peculiar.

And because these Rods are created on earth it means that there is an defense possible against this weapon. Anything invented in the world of duality has it's antipode. Period. The best weapon does not exist. Although stupidity does exist.

I don't think it's the U.S. hitting Japan.
