My dad was in Egypt during Arab-Israeli war

He was an officer in charge of anti aircraft batteries that was supposed to shoot down Israeli aircraft

He said they took out the vacuum tubes and replaced them with non working ones because they were ordered too. Basically they were ordered to make sure not a single Israeli plane was shoot down.

Israeli aircraft did not get shot down but did not at the same time target Russian air defense stationed in Egypt

Israel destroyed all the non Russan complexes tho and all those complexes were also non working

Those were state of the art air defense systems that were made to not work

Russia always sells state of the art equipment to Arabs but makes sure that it cannot be used properly and always sends Israel the communications codes and everything else as well
