Michigan was some stupid garden.. Michigan's Upper Peninsula alone has dozen's of beautiful areas I'd put up against anywhere on the planet.. Pictured Rocks would be my pick for Michigan. There are almost 18 miles of THIS... [link to blog.mlive.com] Ohio was the freaking State House in Cincinnati. I know Ohio is not known for its beauty, but the area known as Hocking Hills in South East Ohio is as beautiful as anywhere I've seen... Old Man's cave and dozens of other natural cave and cliff formations are just astounding... This is just one picture of hundreds of beautiful areas. [link to media.dallas.city.cx] Robert |

Miles of dunes, with not another person as far ass the eye can see! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 65271271 United States 09/08/2015 12:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Minnesota for me: 1: The "Driftless Area" comprised of SE MN, SW WI, NW IL, and NE IA. The area was not covered by the last glacier and is an older land form of hardwood covered bluff, clear running trout streams in the valleys, contoured fields. Beautiful views around every curve and endless inviting side roads. 2: North Shore of Lake Superior. For spectacular vistas and rock formations. 3: Boundary Waters: Endless forests dotted by countless lakes. Serene and wild. I also can't believe that the U.P. in Michigan was skipped. Porcupine Mountain area just one example. |

At the New River Gorge Bridge, you can view it all from the catwalk if you're brave. Or you can base jump on Bridge Day. My picks: Spruce Knob, WV - Highest elevation in the state The road to the top used to be gravel and dusty, now it's all paved, which makes a great motorcycle ride. I suppose the six mile downhill would be nice on a bicycle too. You get a 360° view from the tower, with hiking trails all around. Some nice pics in this video: Spruce Knob [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] Seneca Rocks, WV (close to Spruce Knob) A popular spot for climbers, but the hiking trail goes to the summit. Watched a climbing group hold a wedding at the summit one day. Standing in the gap on a windy day, without a rope, video camera in one hand and a cast on the other ... it's really spooky. The look of Seneca Rocks is different now since the tall spire collapsed and fell in 1987. Almost all evidence of the spire's existence has been wiped out. The spire was somewhat like a hand, with a long finger pointing up. Pic of the spire from my files, though it's tough to see in this newspaper scan: [link to i.imgur.com] I've been trying to get a good pic of the spire since the interwebs began. Hard to find just the right video from Seneca Rocks, this one doesn't show the view from the summit: [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] That portion of the state, Germany Valley is my favorite, and it's all close to the ski resorts and places like Dolly Sods, Bahre Rocks, Seneca Caverns, Blackwater Falls, etc. |

Quoting: Madigan Lake Tahoe Other than that....it's all in the eye of the beholder. Oh come on, Faron is beautiful too. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Forget the red or the blue pill. I'm not from there, but I've traveled enough to know that Hot Springs blows anywhere from Little Rock out of the water. MIgardener User ID: 2218630 Canada 09/08/2015 01:34 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here in Michigan we have several million acres of public forests, with some truly breathtaking views in the hilly regions. But in my opinion one of the most beautiful things is simply looking out across Lake Superior. "All that is necessary for evil to triumph, is for good men to do nothing." That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.-Romans 10:9 "In this galaxy, there's a mathematical probability of three million Earth-type planets. And in all of the universe, three million million galaxies like this. And in all of that... and perhaps more, only one of each of us."-Dr.Mccoy |
