Last week they told us they were closing down main roads even though the city is a good 20 miles away. Feels doom-y.

Many people are actually cancelling their Philly hotel reservations & now the hotels are offering discounts. Huge areas of the city will have "no car zones". The city will be starting to tow cars from the streets on September 20th. All these over the top preps for this visit seem extremely strange. The Vatican is probably less secure than this area in Philly will be.

So this is an article about preps from Atlantic City, New Jersey....1 hour 15 minutes away from Philadelphia.

State police warn Pope Francis visit could tie up roads for days

"Grab your milk and stock up on bread. Pope Francis is coming.

South Jersey residents are being advised to do things such as shop for groceries ahead of time and run errands early in the week — way before the pope’s arrival in Philadelphia later this month, according to information posted by the state Department of Transportation.

Ed Conover, deputy coordinator of the Atlantic County Office of Emergency Management, said a response team is preparing to support Camden and Gloucester counties in the event of an emergency or disaster that would affect the public during the pope’s visit.

“We’re gearing up to assist with human needs and any evacuees or victims of an untimely event or natural disaster. We will not provide medical or EMS support. We would be receiving victims, providing shelter and transportation of victims in the event of an emergency,” Conover said.

The response team will be stationed in Atlantic County, prepared to respond to Camden and Gloucester counties to provide logistical support, trailers, shelter equipment, lighting, food and water primarily for the public in the event of an emergency during the pope’s visit. The county will have eight trailers of equipment and supplies and cargo trucks to respond, he said.

A team of county staff and volunteers are preparing to load equipment on pallets to stack inside trucks, in case the supplies need to be transported to its neighboring counties, Conover said.

Conover said the emergency response preparation also serves as a training exercise.

“We’ve never prepared for an event like this. This is breaking new ground for the county. Eventually we will get another hurricane, and this serves as a training exercise. It’s an opportunity to go through all of our processes,” he said."
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear."

Also many different counties, townships and towns within about an hour of Pholadelphia are declaring "State of Emergency" weeks ahead of the Pope's arrival for the weekend he will be in town. This respomse seems unprecedented on so many levels.

"A Bucks County township has declared a “state of emergency” for the pope’s September visit to Philadelphia, saying the designation will help officials seek federal disaster money to recoup costs associated with the visit."

Map showing zones and dates for large areas where cars will begin to be towed a week prior to visit. So how are residents expected to attend to their everyday lives with jobs etc. I wouldn't want to be anywhere near this event. I wonder if the preps are this extreme for his visit to DC & NY.

Don't you know that anyone who isn't a muslim is a 'jew-creep' to some on here? To describe the head of the Catholic church as a Jew shows the level of intelligence. I think they call it common core education.

If you look at the shape of the lockdown area and also take into account the 2 bridges and what looks like the railway tracks on the other side of the river.. it's kind of shaped like an axe.

Probably just seeing shapes.. but that whole area has a lot of symmetry too.

I live in philly and I can say it's easily the biggest event for the city since I can remember.

There's large parts of the city we wont be allowed to go to without a ticket and we won't be able to use public transportation without a special "pope visit" pass that sold out on day 1

Don't know about DC but the preps in NY are nowhere near what' they're doing in Philly. I live roughly halfway between the two cities, and the stuff for his Philadelphia visit are so over the top I can't believe it.

Seems like way more than a "visit".

Thankfully I am also an hour away, but get news stations for that area and prep info has been reported for months. From what I can find the consensus is the preps are different for Philly based on outdoor mass and the Pope being among the people more.

Seems the closer this evemt gets the more restrictive & locked down it becomes. Business including hospitals seem to be at a loss for how they will be able to get emoloyees and everyday deliveries. These seem like logistical plans that would have been determined months ago. But it doesn't seem that these excessive restrictions were either known before recently or communicated within the communities.
