The book was trash. A very slow read. Same deal with the Hunger Games series. The movies were excellent, the cast aptly chosen. The books were utter garbage, though. Strangely, there is far more depth and detail in the movies and I mean FAR more. Of course, it's usually the other way around! The books read as if they were a rough draft..., no worse than that, an OUTLINE for what SHOULD have been an actual novel. I read The Hunger Games in a couple of days. Not the greatest book but it was entertaining. Don't forget THG is Young Adult fiction. |

It's like the author wants to complete an epic tale but fills parts with pages of boring detail. When an author take 5 pages to describe the grass outside a house, I lose interest. |

And in a car. And in a tree. They are so goodm so goodm you see! So I will eat them in a box. And I will eat them with a fox. And I will eat them in a house. And I will eat them with a mouse. And I will eat them here and there. Say! I will eat them ANHYWHERE! I do so like green eggs and ham! Thank you! Thank you, Sam-I-am to answer your question, OP, ever tried "hunger" by knut hamsun? no some boring as distressingly depressing, a true insight into a man falling into mental illness. Aw, haha |

I can only read one or two (if I am lucky) books a month. You must be a fast reader. I wish I read faster. Any tips?? |

So I just stopped. One book I tried to read(can't remember the name) had probably 50 characters in the first 100 pages and I couldn't keep them straight so I threw it away. Also I've tried reading the bible but no luck. I'm having better luck listening to audio of it. Ain't no sunshine when she's gone...ain't no borderline psychotic emotional outbursts either. I actually finished it because it was required reading, but it was a struggle. I enjoyed all the books I was required to read in school except for that one. Absolutely hated it! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 68689794 That surprises me. It's not very long, after all, and does have some fighting in it. Supposedly, it was a big hit among Civil War veterans because of how accurately it described the fight-or-flight response and how being a hero vs a coward was almost completely situational and automatic. They just didn't scientifically understand combat conditioning at that time. I love to read and history is one of my favorite subjects, but I just could not get into this book. I was in 8th grade when I read it. Maybe it just wasn't appealing to a 13 year old girl. |
