People who don't smoke marijuana, but think it should be legal

So I'm 21 years old and I use to be a heavy smoker but it started to fuck with me in the last year or so of smoking... lack of motivation, mild depression and drifting away from people and hobbies because all I wanted to do was smoke my life away.

I haven't smoked since December 2014 now and I honestly feel so much better...clearer head, more energy and more motivation for life in general.
But I've also had some really positive experiences with Marijuana.

I definitely think it should be legal and there should be education about not abusing it just like you would do with alcohol.

No one should be locked in a cage for exploring their consciousness.

I applaud your stance calling for legalization but I think you might be mistaken on some of your reasons. Smokers aren't "turning to crime" to pay for pot, most anybody can afford $50 an ounce for mexibrick. "Hydro" is just a method of growing, and there aren't "a bunch of nasty chemicals" in it, it just been bred to maximize thc/cbd.

I know many who have never smoked that are against its prohibition.

I know several smokers and when they smoke hydro they skizout but when they smoke bushweed their perfectly fine

Are there even people like that? For years, I've been reading and hearing all kinds of arguments for making weed legal, but not once has any of them ever been from someone who wasn't already biased because they were a stoner.

I don't claim to be a Charles Atlas, but I don't use illegal drugs, I don't use nicotine, I don't drink alcohol or caffeine, I don't abuse OTC or prescription pills, and I try to closely monitor my intake of sugar/corn syrup. Basically, I'm in a very small and harshly ridiculed group.

I've always been against drug use, not because of any religious, political or media influence, but because I just didn't see the point of it and I thought the culture behind drugs like pot was phony.

I view recreational marijuana as another tool used by the powers that be to keep the sheeple subdued while they get fucked over by the government. I also equate weed with failed progressive ideologies. It foments left-wing tendencies in people.

Furthermore, I find it laughable that marijuana is still considered an edgy, trendy thing when we have omnipotent sources of digital entertainment.

I have also frowned upon cultural conformity, and smoking pot as become as conformist as you can get. And I don't understand why people say the media still has a "Reefer Madness" mentality, because they are more pro-marijuana than ever before.

I will say, though, that I do support non-psychoactive medical marijuana and industrial hemp. In fact, I would think an industry for hemp products would be more successful than a recreational pot industry. Not everyone smokes weed, but everyone uses products that can be made from hemp.

But I have to draw the line at recreational weed. I just don't think it's good for the physical or mental health of the general human race, and the jaded attitude that permeates this site is proof of that.

Okay, but what makes you think weed is the be-all-end-all of life? Why can't people pursue other routes of leisure that don't involve psychoactive drugs? That's what disturbs me about the whole drug culture, it's more like a CULT. Nothing seems to matter other than weed. It's total complacency, narcissism and false idolization.

I smoked for years when I was a bit younger. I did every day for one year of my life until my College professor asked me " How much pot are you smoking" Kinda hit home as he could tell.
I continued to smoke for years but not everyday after that and have stopped smoking simply because I no longer enjoy the buzz.
All my friends that still smoke like I did at 50 are completely brain dead. I have watched over 30 years what it has done to them.
I think legalizing it will dumb the county down but Im all for freedom!
Call me a hypocrite but I prefer it to be a bit harder for my kids to get and not having the government say it's OK helps me as a dad.

It's a plant provided by Mother Nature and beside getting high you can use it for medical, food, clothing and fuel. But you would like it banned?

I used to smoke weed, but I haven't for over a decade. I rarely drink these days either.

I am a strong advocate of legalization and always have been. Not because I want to smoke weed, but because I realized long ago that drug prohibition does more harm to society and our civil rights than drugs do.
