I was telling a friend the same thing last week!!
I invented a game as a kid called " balltag", like dodgeball but not completely..
Who ever was it had the ball, everyone else in the playground had to run, dodge, duck, jump, hide to keep away from the person with the ball, the person it, could throw the ball and make another person it, and then he was free from being it!!
It was a great game with a nice soft air filled hand sized bounce ball!!
Fun times dodging peoples throws!!
Then i created the same game but for at night hude and seek, same tactics, we had neighborhoods on the military base playing til midnihgt!!
Fun shit
Im 40 now, but in great shape and still want to play!!

Sorry to burst yer bubble...but we were playin that in the 60's n 70's. Most times we used a soccer or volleyball and at times we switch it up and use a tennis ball. As we got a little older and braver we'd use a smaller football. Nothin like takin a spiral to the back while tryin to run away. We even used to play rock tag...but couldn't use any rocks bigger than a marble or so. It wouldn't last long once the younger kids took one to the noggin and went cryin to mama. So anyway...I'm sure we didn't "invent" it either.

We would even play dart tag. We found old darts and beat up googles at an old Saint Vincent DePaul junk store by Lake Union in Seattle. Even as rotten kids...we still didn't want to blind each other...but it did leave a couple good marks at times. We also liked lawn dart chicken with metal garbage can lids for "protection" too. All that dangerous fun and no serious injuries.

You know what I don't get. Men that wear those skinny jeans, how come they never have a package bulge?

I know I'll get a few gay jokes. But I'm being serious. A 30 year old man with skinny jeans, should have some kinda bulge.

There was a stretch of time, between the 50's to the 80's where America was the greatest place on earth to live for the average person. During that time, however, there was a perverted undercurrent working to subvert the nation's culture and that began to become apparent in the 90s and has only intensified it's glaringly obvious and demented intentions.

I remember those games. We would play out on the street until it got so dark the streetlamps would come on and that meant it was time to go inside. Playing red light/green light and red rover and touch football and keepaway.

Getting a pair of tennishoe skates for Christmas one year..

I still refuse to get an iphone or ipad.

an anachronism, I suppose.

Nostalgia...great thread - I'm 74...I've revisited places I lived as a child, several now overrun by either freeways or urban expansion...a favorite was a bungalow in an olive orchard, chickens in pens, red ants, a two hour bus ride to school, horned toads and lizards and snakes...Ford tractors, dirt...two guys manually digging a septic tank, lining it with bricks, hauling the dirt out with a hand crank...neighbor slaughtering his pigs, sharing our telephone with another neighbor who had to come over a stile when my grandmother blew a whistle...which some mocking bird learned...and someone here mentioned clean air, gone when LA built all the freeways.

I'm fortunate...after the years, city, work, family, finally, got 100 acres out in nowhere, back to the dirt, back to the wild.
In reality there is no doctrine to be given to mankind.
