I would guess that, through the PPT plus basic Fed operation, the Fed and Treasury own far more than 50% of all US stocks and bonds. Especially If you throw in what each state govt, county govts and city govts own in their asset portfolio-which you never see ... To your question. The Fed is limited only by the debt budget passed by the Congress. That is why Omaomao wants the congress to give him the right to raise the national debt limit by himself.

Governments, at all levels, never show you their assets, they only show you their budgets and why they need your tax money to operate. It's been estimated that most cities, states, etc could finance themselves through the assets that they already own, but don't tell you about.
