I think that, though the first officer was wrong, it was good that he didn't over react and taser the guy making the video It was also commendable that the supervisor straightened the situation out without incident. They humbled themselves and didn't behave badly. Even the first officer who was bullheaded admitted he was wrong when finally challenged. If more police officers responded so reasonably, we'd have many fewer tragic incidents involving police officers who don't know and aren't committed to abiding by the law. This is a case where the activist was successful, and an optimal outcome was achieved. Gotta give credit where credit is due.

Fair enough, I suppose.

There are a lot of cops who probably would have flipped out more than that guy did.

Well, this is kind of a complex issue. I can't really blame the rookie for trying to figure out what was going on. Just a Gomer Pyle trying to show who's boss.

After all, it is a little bit creepy to have a drone flying around your place of work, like spying on what you do.

But it was nice to see his superior come and straighten everything out in a nice friendly way.

I would say just relax and lighten up. Nothing really wrong went down in this case.

That trooper would have seriously hurt or killed that man if the video camera wasn't running and the circumstances were different. Look at his eyes.

I wanted to add to my previous post, though, that the supervisor seemed like a standup guy.

I mean he did stand down - and I guess cops are jumpy after so many being killed lately.

I don't think the cop was that bad - I'd tell some one to piss off if they had a drone filming my house so...

That calls for speculation, but it is certainly possible that it was the camera that restrained the police officer. This just highlights the usefulness of cameras in helping to protect our rights. We have the right to oversee government officials. They may watch us out in public, but need a warrant to infringe on our privacy. Good system.

I agree. But your house is not funded by taxpayer dollars. That facility is. The supervisor was right to some degree. The role of drones in situations like these does require some consideration. For example, I can't see it being ethical or reasonable for civilians to be flying drones outside the windows of government buildings. Even if the man making the video was "trolling", it doesn't seem that different to me from a police officer "trolling" for speeders with a radar gun.

the guy filming sounded like a real life troll... how about you get a fucking life.. back in the western days if you're creeping around the police station, they woulda popped your ass in a heartbeat.
