NASA fucked up admitting there's liquid water on Mars. Think about this one for a sec | |
Chugiakian User ID: 68640416 United States 09/30/2015 10:10 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I think NASA exposed themselves somehow here with this whole liquid water on Mars thing. If there's runoff water coming from the ice on the mountains because there are supposed warmer months, then how the fuck does the water get back up there? Think about it. How long has it been melting? If it's melting you would think that it would pool off somewhere. Make a lake. Does Mars have weather? Rain? If not, how the fuck can the water be running off showing signs of liquid water when it has nowhere to go but down? How long has the ice been melting for? One would think if it were over a long period of time it would either pool off into a lake or evaporate in the atmosphere. Someone help me out here I think this means something. I think NASA knew this all along obviously. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 67481672 You make a good point. If the water is melting then the temperature has to be above 32 degrees. But they always said the temperature on mars always very cold below zero. If it below zero then why is the water melting? Uh, no. First of all, it's heavily salted water and salt content makes water turn into vapor more easily (=it boils at lower temperatures). Furthermore, the evaporation rate is increased at lower ambient pressure. Martian ambient pressure is significantly lower than our atmospheric pressure. Finally, water vapor is always coming out of ice at subzero temperatures (that's why you can hang clothes out to dry at subzero temperatures). All that water vapor becomes condensed in the atmosphere and it snows down. Is there an atmosphere on Mars? Chugiakian |

A summer day on Mars may get up to 70 degrees F near the equator... Temperature is based on atmospheric pressure. Mars does not have the same atmosphere as earth so the boiling and freezing points are different. Although the Mars in all the videos we see from NASA does have the same atmosphere as earth because the videos are shot on Devon island and not Mars. |

In such a case, what we see as a sphere is an optical illusion. If you position a stationary lens above a film strip where each frame was a day in the life of a planet then what you would see through the lens would be a spinning globe due to the passage of time. Dam, I would almost kill for some Hash that good. |

But the whole thing still doesn't make sense Quoting: Anonymous Coward 67481672 I agree OP. It's an odd time to announce something so obvious. I believe they know 5000% more information than they are willing to disclose at this point. It's leading to something big, and those who have hoarded the information will regret it when the shit hits the fan. They're going to wish they had more time and more help. |

With lakes and rivers. That water is depleting. Pay attention. |

I can grok that better than I can imagine it. I should have said that the film-like frames are typical rectangular maps. The first time I saw this phenomenon was in the early 90s in Sydney. The phone company, Optus, sent out a timezone slide-rule thingy with two global maps side-by-side, thus allowing you to calculate time differences. I accidentally stumbled upon this technique by placing a printer's magnifying glass over the two map strip and saw the spinning Earth as I moved the slider. |
