Asheville, NC here too. Rain picking up here in North Asheville. The last time we had 6 inches of rain in a day we had a house start to slide down the mountain.

Steady rain here close to Columbia, SC. But it's all being soaked up... it's been a dry summer here, even the creek bed down the driveway is just a little muddy. I was expecting more. Friends in Charleston sent pictures of flooded neighborhoods, and that ain't good.

Re: Glp Official Flood Thread.
I have been lucky here so far. We had to go out earlier. It was raining, but not too bad. Went out for lunch and did a bit of shopping and only encountered light rain and not too much wind.

West Asheville no lights flickering and have power. Just a lot of leaves and debris in the streets, but as of two hours ago, that's all it was.

Venturing out to take my son to the ER for possible pneumonia :-(

I'll report any damage we encounter.

Prayers for your son, and for a safe trip to the hospital.

Thank you! Pneumonia, unfortunately. I heard it at home, no one believed me! He's doing much better after IV abx and some fluids. The respiratory therapist prayed over him, it was wonderful. Love the care we received, all-around.

The wind has kicked up and I am hearing tree branches breaking and popping. Maybe we dodged some of the rain.

Checking in from Ballentine at 7:43am on Sunday.

It's WET. Seriously wet, still pouring. It really did not get started raining heavily in my area until late last night, but it did get intense about doing so. At least we made it, with no damage that I've found so far other than copious quantities of water everywhere. Hope the rest of you fared as well.

Power's back on, yard and fields are flooded... creek can't carry it away fast enough. Rain coming down the fireplace, 4 inches in the bucket so far. Troops and real alligators in the streets of Columbia, SC. Plus a curfew from 6 PM to 6 AM. Weatherman just said we've had 8 to 10 inches of rain with more on the way. Dams are breaking around us. They've closed a couple of interstates close by.

It's a damn mess.

Wow you guys are in for a BAD rainstorm. This will be the worst in SC since Hurricane Hugo. I don't know which would be worse, the mountain valleys or down in the Low Country, the swampy part of South Carolina.

This is only ONE DAY.

If you are in hilly to mountainous regions of NC or SC or V then beware of huge landslide risks there that can completely carry your house and life away.

Get out of there if your home is on any incline that could be a landslide.
