Soldering some CPUs..... | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 70484223 Germany 10/05/2015 04:18 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I wouldn't let that little scammer anywhere near my computer with a soldering iron Quoting: Astral Goat People don't understand the process. The ceramic substrate sans cpu for example is loaded to a graphite boat with the pins and a solder pad for each pin. Then it goes through an oven and the solder flows. When it all cools the pins are attached to the substrate. Then nearly microscopic solder balls are applied to the substrate and the chip is located on the substrate, Once again it goes through an oven and the chip is attached to the substrate when cool. Some ding a ling that smells like a goat with a soldering iron is not part of the process |

Quoting: YouAreDreaming It's brilliant, why didn't we think about it. I could grab a PS4 strip the casing off and BLAM! Show people the mess of cables and shit and say, "Look, I built a PS4!" Of course, GLP is the only place this is being discussed. The MSM, being the retarded half-breed skidmarks they are, really couldn't understand the difference between tearing something apart, and inventing something. Hence their support for Democrats. |

I think everyone hear is envisioning 64 bit i3 i5 i7 that are not actually very suitable for hobby type projects. Although based on the RadioShack clock it is apparent he does not have the capacity to solder anything. |

Although based on the RadioShack clock it is apparent he does not have the capacity to solder anything. When ever I use chips, which are mostly op amps and timers, I solder in chip sockets w/o the chip inserted. Of course these aren't cpu's, the idea of keeping heat off the chip from soldering is the same. It is easy for a factory to quick solder and keep the chip cool, but people like Ahmed don't have expensive equipment. Using sockets is practically mandatory imho. making it easy to test the circuit through the pins and swapping chips, etc. Let's see him explain how to make a simple flyback driver using an NE555 with out a feedback coil. Kid probably thinks a damped oscillation is something he does in private at night. |
