I went to Syria back in the 1980s.. and on my day off (it was Easter sunday) I took a cab alone from the Cham Palace Hotel in Damascus, and drove to Maloula-- a christian village where they speak Aramaic, Jesus' original language.

I remember seeing how happy and light-filled the children were as they left the church on Sunday morning with candles. They were so happy and filled with joy. They seemed sweeter and happier than the other children in the village.

They truly are the descendants of original Aramaic speaking Christians.


I can't believe the evil behind destroying a village like Maloula. I am so happy that their faith was so strong that the missionaries were smiling as they were being murdered --- knowing that they would see the Lord soon.

What beautiful people! I love them and hate the evil the had to face but they still had a heart of life and love.
