Question: How Come Amish Men Do Not Have Mustaches

It must have a meaning, just what I do not know. The women never cut their hair, I know Pentecostals that are like that too.

well i dont think that answered the question. It's because they think mustaches are military. Nevermind the fact that mustaches are no more specific to the military than wearing a hat, or clothes for that matter. Actually there stuff in general makes sense if it's to keep things simple, this one however doesn't make sense.

They shave their mustaches because in the 18th and 19th centuries, military men wore mustaches, and the "plain folk" are pacifists.

I used to live in Amish country ner Plain City, OH. I was told by an Amish farmer that there is a Bible verse that says that that after marrying a man will have a beard on the jaw line. The quote didn't mention a mustache, so only a beard is permitted. Sorry, someone with a concordance will have to look up the verse.

Maybe, the mustache gets in the way and the beard doesn't. Ha. ha.

I can't give you an exact reason for it, all I know is it's tradition. Unmarried men are prohibited from having a beard and once married are required to grow a beard without the mustache.

Its almost similiar to the Orthodox Jews isn't it with having a beard after thee is married. As for the women being plain looking they find that in the Bible too. Muslims too have their women also with long dresses and wearing black.

You can't be serious comparing Muslims to the Amish, like apples and oranges I think. The Muslim women have little freedom, if any, they are more alinged with personal property. I am guessing that this camparison is to the radical element of Islam that holds it's primary objective to exterminate all infidels, as Americans, they consider us infidels, lower that vile animals as the Amish are about love and passivism, moderate clothing with decorum as the center of interaction is polar opposite from deneaning and degradation actions upon all women.

I grew up Old Order Mennonite and was very familiar with the Amish. This poster is full of BS. They are very similar to Islam. Women are considered lower and while not property they are certainly controled by the man. This would either be their father before marriage and then after marriage the husband. This is a central tenant of these groups. They get this from Corinthians 13 where the order of the sexes and the headcovering for women is talked about.
