Japan restarts 2nd nuclear reactor following 2011 Fukushima disaster

Japan has restarted the country’s second nuclear reactor at the Sendai Nuclear Power Plant under updated regulations following the Fukushima Daiichi dissaster in 2011. The Kyushu Electric Power Co. reactivated rector No. 2 about two months after the operator resumed work at Reactor 1. The reactor is expected to start generating electricity on October 21. The new unit is to enter commercial operation in November. The Sendai Nuclear Power Plant is located 50 kilometres from the active Sakurajima volcano.....
