I agree. I'm convinced older white people are the most discriminated group in the job market today.

They need to either provide access to jobs like they do for persons of color....or drop the retirement age.

Old people need to do young people a favor and die.

It is a hard time to find work, period. Walmart, some of the larger chain stores, hospitals, and places you worked before and didn't burn your bridges are good starting points. Volunteering to get your foot in the door at a hospital, will get you a free lunch and give you the opportunity to meet people in departments and keep an ear out for job openings. You will be blessed with working in an air conditioned environment. Walmart recently had several people in their senior years putting stock out and of course greeters and exit door checkers. Check Ross department stores, good stock jobs and believe it or not, check your Credit Union. Those are the types of jobs we have here.
Seriously, though it is time to get a job and hang on. Don't leave, no matter what. Be humble, don't carry a chip, be helpful, curious and kind in all you do. Don't let some malcontent get you involved in their dramas and stay pro employer or be quiet round those who are working their way out the door.

I have noticed if you say the truth about race, as in white, it means no call for a job. I think it is time to say no answer and see where that gets you. It is all for the government's diversity statistics they are trying to pull on companies and applicants.

I don't know what age you are really referring to - middle age, older middle age or really old.

In general, many people (depending on what type of job it is), would like to hire a mature person for many reasons, one of which being, well, mature, dependable, wise, uses common sense, etc. etc.

You mayn't know, but there are a few intellects knocking about here I've noted.

My father is a 70 year old veteran and daily works circles around the 20 y/o's that work for him and looks like he's in his early 50s. He contributes to the community and gives young people an opportunity to make a better than living wage while allowing ample time for their education. He could have retired long ago but I doubt he'll ever spend a workday lounging. He works harder than people my age and younger and takes pride in the work he has done. He passes down his skill to a generation that let's face it, have few skills.

What you might want to consider is that these "old" people just might be able to teach you a thing or two. Knowledge gained from life not just books. Many have fought and put their lives on the line so that you might retain the freedom to share your opinions on places like this one. This one "old" man has helped more people than I can count to support their families, learn skills and pursue a higher education so that they don't have to spend their lives barely making it. There are many, many "old" people out there just like him. Instead of dismissing people because of their age maybe you should take the time to get to know a few. You just might learn a few things.
