An armed Janitor is rediculous.

Kids will have to arm themselves for protection from the friggin teachers.

I'll bet it would seriously curtail school shootings if the faculty were armed and trained.

Yes...for certain trained individuals or armed officers with permanent positions in the schools.

When I was a kid, we took our guns to school on the bus, left them in our lockers and then hunted our way home through the fields and woods...

Same here 150248! I took a double barrel 10 gauge elephant gun for show and tell in elementary school with shells!

We did have a riot in our highschool back in the early 80's....one guy was chasing people with a running chainsaw and got expelled for 3 whole days!

they need a weapons check at the door... drop your weapons off when you get to school... pick them up when you leave... and faculty should be armed... pistols, tasers... the whole 9 yards

YES...Principals and security staff should be trained in the use of stun guns and tasers and give every teacher pepper spray or something to allow the kids to get away from the nutbags who come in to shoot up the place.

No Janitors, tho. They just might use them against a kid who created a mess.

I say get rid of public (government) schools and let private schools decide if they want to allow guns or not.

Now I truly do not mean to be offensive and all kids do things they wouldn`t do in later life, but do you mean hunt in order to eat ....or kill...?

As one that has worked in the school system, I know how easy it is to get into a school without going thru the front door. If everyone would obey the rules - keep all exit doors locked etc. it would help to prevent entry of the crazies.
In my opinion, arming teachers is not the answer, but I do think that metal detectors at the appointed entry doors would help solve the problem of the students being armed.

I also think the entry doors should be locked from outside entry and schools should have only ONE door that visitors can enter - guarded and locked - with a metal detector check befor entry.
That may sound like overkill but we are talking about our children here.

Well, you have to have the kids be able to leave at any exit, any time, in case of fire or other emergency.

So, there's really nothing to keep one kid, who's already safely entered the building unarmed, from opening an emergency exit and letting in a dozen kids who are armed.

I think if they thought the teachers could be picking them off as they ran down the hallway they'd be much more hesitant to bring in firearms.

Then again, there's a good reason that prison guards don't usually carry weapons - they can easily be overpowered by several inmates and have their weapons taken from them and used against them. Kids could do that to teachers too.
