Court decision paves the way for Australian-style gun ban
The Second Circuit's decision comes only one week after both President Obama and Hillary Clinton publicly praised the Australian and British mass gun confiscations of the 1990s.

If the SAFE Act is upheld by the Supreme Court, nothing prevents Congress from summarily outlawing tens of millions of firearms overnight. Once those firearms become contraband, the government may confiscate and destroy them without compensating the owner (just as the government confiscates and destroys illegal drugs).

The Second Circuit's decision leaves the Second Amendment in its gravest peril ever. Second Amendment rights are now hanging by a one-vote margin in the same Supreme Court that upheld Obamacare and declared a national right to gay marriage. Constitutional conservatives and Second Amendment supporters ought to be terrified over the prospect of Justice Scalia having a heart attack during a Hillary Clinton presidency.

The Second Circuit's decision places the hands of the Second Amendment doomsday clock at two minutes to midnight. If you think "it can't happen here," you're wrong.

It already is happening here.

You can ban rainy days but you better keep your raincoat.
Same with the guns.
Only law abiding citizens pay any attention to bans and whatnot. They ban self defense and strengthen criminal's position.

The point is, if they ban the guns, there will simply be no more law abiding citizens. The ban will accomplish nothing more than turning half of the population into outlaws, but no firearms will change hands, unless they being taken from dead Feds.

Just sayin.

Look at what happened in library Connecticut. The state send out letters warning of confiscation and the people complete rejected them. Even the sheriffs refused to do it. A national level confiscation of guns on any appreciable level simply is not going to happen here any time soon.

Additionally many states are introducing legislation making it illegal to enforce federal gun bans.

This. The first thing that happened after New Orleans police confiscated guns during the Katrina fiasco was that several states passed laws making gun confiscation illegal even during Marshall law.

Finally.

I wish they would just outlaw guns all together so we can get the damn revolution/cleansing started.

Better double lock that bunker door Barry.
I seriously doubt you would end up as a POW.

Not to mention that several states have passed legislation to strictly blocks any federal laws that try to infringe on the 2nd amendment, Texas is one of them.

Their argument is that they need to ban guns to save lives but a real attempt at confiscation would equal nothing less than millions of deaths on both sides in this country which makes their entire argument completely null and void

The courts or supreme court cannot ban guns

It would take a constitutional convention and all state participation

Why do you need to live your life carrying protection? There must be something seriously wrong with a country if you have to live life carrying a gun.you halfwits still think you are living in the wild west. You want to stop school shootings get rid off the one thing that causes shootings.next you will be trying to arm kids for there own protection.

Re: Court decision paves the way for Australian-style gun ban
The moment the United States federal government attempts to ban or confiscate firearms is the moment the United States federal government ceases to exist.

It would cause an immediate uprising involving an irregular force of tens of millions [that has its own vehicles, doctors, safe houses, manufacturing capabilities] along with an immediate defection of at least half of current government and military personnel. Of the remaining government and military personnel, government internal estimates figure at least 10-25% of those who remain with the government will be active moles and spies.

In the face of an uprising, foreign intervention into the United States becomes inevitable. Countries like Russia have already indicated they will be supportive of Texas secession. With domestic turmoil, the US will be vulnerable overseas and will almost assuredly lose control of the Pacific Rim and/or Europe.

The media would find itself in a Catch-22 of having to report on rebel activities to satisfy their for-profit business model, while at the same time they risk making the rebel cause into a noble one. The federal government would find itself restricted in its level of force because their entire media strategy would be to portray themselves as the good guys, the friends of the people [even though they are starting from a deep, deep hole here as most Americans do not trust or respect the federal government and all national polling confirms this].

The major centers of support for the federal government lie in the major cities, many of which are surprisingly easy to cut off from supply routes and contain almost none of the nation's basic production facilities [oil, gas, cropland, water, animals for meat, mineral deposits]. In their effort to secure these facilities, the government will leave their main population centers vulnerable to systemic chaos and crime, easily exacerbated by lone actor rebels through low-level terrorism -- further putting pressure among the loyal population to continue backing an entity that cannot provide security.

The only way out for the government would be to literally kill an overwhelming majority of the population, both rebel and loyalist. That is their only choice.

The 2nd Amendment and the other 9 amendments that make up the Bill of Rights, are considered inalienable rights. These cannot be dismissed or altered by constitutional convention. They are untouchable.
