Nope. Not too late at all. My own advice is to start with a good three-day kit and build up from there.

I have a lot of canned food. Stock up on peanut butter, good protein!!

I'm prepped to bug in for 6-8 months

And have a BOB that'll allow me to live for 4-6 months without anything else

Never too late while you still have the means to purchase and what you want is still available, its more a question of WHAT you intend to prep for and WHEN and HOW MANY persons you will be making preps for? Do your research is the main thing, there are a lot of slick hucksters out there selling crap you dont need, food you wont eat, tools or seeds that will never be practical where you are, etc. and a lot of stuff you can get wholesale, second hand, or from a local hardware or garden supply store. For instance, before rural fire departments could afford those "Jaws of Life" saws, they carried a lawn mower blade and a sledge hammer to cut open wrecked cars. Or learning first aid, homeopathy, what wild plants are edible or medicinal, survival skills, things like that, skills you could barter with. It is never too late nor expensive to learn these things.

If your prepping for major War, then expect it by the Spring of 2016. It almost happened in mid-march of 2015.

If your prepping for financial collapse, then that won't happen during ObowMao's presidency.

If Trump doesn't become president and they elect a weak Republican, expect TSTHTF shortly after the inauguration...

If Hitlery or Bernie gets elected, then expect the first rumblings of a Civil War breaking out. Especially if they come after our guns...

Yeah get it done ASAP. When people with money wake up all survival gear will be bought up in a 48 hour period. And anything restocked will cost 2-3 times as much. The day is coming when most people won't be able to afford it.

Real preps are in your head. Learning how to filter water using a sump hole, learning how to make activated charcoal, learning how to skin a rabbit. Those are things you can't buy from Walmart for a few worthless Zogbucks.
