PARRISH - The owner of a stolen show horse that intruders butchered for its meat hopes evidence left behind at the crime scene will lead to their arrests.

"It’s horrible,” Deborah H. Stephens, owner of the award-winning jumper Phedra de Blondel, said Sunday afternoon. She said she imported the horse from Europe and that it arrived just two days earlier.

Manatee County Sheriff’s detectives say that sometime between 8 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. Sunday intruders took the horse from its stall in a stable in the 10000 block of Gillet Road in Parrish and slaughtered it on the property. Deputies who arrived at the scene described the horse as having "large portions of meat cut from it and missing.”

I'm sorry, seriously no offense to Florida folks on hear, but wht the fuck would anyone live in America's wang? Some ummediate coastal areas are nice, but I could not deal with the humidity dew point levels, turd worlders practicing witchcraft religious cults like Santaria and Voodoo, high crime levels, low wages, old farts stepping on the accelerator instead of the break, crashing into stores and women with baby strollers, big ass bugs ....

One of my horses I picked up, because I overheard they were going to take him to be slaughtered. I just could not let that happen! He's now been with me for just about 2 years! :) I love him so much.

People butcher other humans all the time. Even children. I am not surprised when they do this to animals.

NP....He is just about 17 now :) 30 and 32 is a good run! I hope I can have him in my life for that long. My husband lost his horse back in August because he had torsion. It was just the worst day ever. The vet came out, and informed us after hours of trying to save him, that our options were A. Euthanize or B. A 15,000 dollar surgery that still may not work. When I saw my husband tear up, it just broke my heart.

Happens all the time in SoFlo. Horse meat is considered a delicacy...they actually butcher the horse while it's still alive. This just got press because of the value.

Used to live in the Keys and it was on the news all the time, especially around the area named "The Ranches".

My neighbor's horse was 27 when the vet came out to put her down. My family was outside putting up some fencing, when my 7 year old looked over and saw the vet. She just got a very sad look on her face and said "Mommy, what is going on over there?" and then said "They are going to put Missy to sleep, aren't they?" My husband had to explain it to her, and she just started crying. People don't realize what these beautiful creatures can do for you. I'm so sorry for your losses. :/
