It used to be tats were frowned upon heavily. Then it got popular and it became more accepted.

Body modification is nothing new whatsoever. It is done for a billion different reasons, since the dawn of man. Yes some are sheep, yes its all some form of programming, but for fuck sakes you can get a tattoo just for the hell of it. I've done it several times.
