I'm afraid we have come to the point in our society where everyone needs to carry a gun in order to head-off the bad elements.

I'm not a proponent of handguns - in fact I would like to see them all banned. However, that's not a viable solution because if you take the guns away from the law-abiding individuals, they would still be in the hands of the thugs/crooks who purchase them on the black market. That element has no respect for others or life, and would shoot to kill at every opportunity because they won't want witnesses around to ID them.

So unfortunately, the alternative is to have an armed population of average guy on the street types taking care of themselves and others.

that neighborhood - the customer gunner was probably black also ... very surprised he got involved - the store people were most likely not black and not local .... guessing that since the customer gunner was all legal that he got himself out of the ghetto as a young guy and maybe was in the military - lots of carried guns but not many able to be carried legal ....
