This never happened... propaganda. The technology required to do this would not fit in an SU-24 and the power required to impede an Arleigh Burke class destroyer would fry anything and anyone close to it -- like the pilots of the plane.

There was a similar incident involving the USS Ross, where an SU-24 (old aircraft, BTW - Russia has far better) flew near -- video of this encounter if below.

It does bother me that we are putting so much effort into these hi-tech ships that fail easily and have parts made from God (China) knows where... I am not against the technology -- just the heavy reliance on it. I would rather have 10 more traditional destroyers out there with simpler, more proven technology than one Arleigh Burke. Hopefully they will pair up these hi-tech boats with lower tech so that any future EMP type attacks will have some chance of being thwarted.
