Melancholy and the Infinite Sadness (my mood)
I've been very melancholy the past couple of days. It's the time change, the cold and the darkness. Always gets me down a little. November and December are difficult months. I forget each year just how hard it is to get through the days of November and December. Every year I forget. It's like everything is great, fine, content...until...November rolls around. I start to feel it a little in October because I know what is approaching. But Halloween keeps me happen. Then Halloween is over and it's just...November and December left. Then I will get totally recharged when the New Year hits. Life will be so great again. I would like to just hibernate for the next 2 months. Go into a deep sleep until New Year's Eve. Yes, that would be nice.

And don't tell me to go workout or eat better or get off the computer. I do all those things. No, this has nothing to do with anything other than...it's November and December.

Maybe you have SAD? Get a mood lamp.

Read up on the lights that help with SAD. Personally, I get in the tanning bed to chase away my winter blues....no, I'm not orange. I do it only a couple of times a week and people don't even know.

Re: Melancholy and the Infinite Sadness (my mood)
I just googled SAD. I think that is what I have. And yes, my thread title was a great album of the 90's. I think I will go to my girlfriend's house and drink a couple of beers and socially smoke a cigarette. Maybe that will help.

I have the opposite. Reverse SAD, if you will.

Spring hits and I slowly slide into a slump. Hate summer. The moment we get our nine months of rain back, I come alive.

Anyways, try getting a full spectrum mood lamp. I've heard they really do help.

Wow that's so interesting. Last year it was a good feeling. Well, because I had just moved mid November and got out of a bad situation and it felt good to be here and feel a change. Now that I've lived here a year it seems I am back to my usual routine of melancholy and the infinite sadness as soon as November arrives.

Thank you! Ok, this thread has already helped me out. I'm going to get in my truck and drive to my girlfriend's house. She said she would make me a nice homemade dinner tonight. Maybe she will scratch my back too. That always makes me feel better.

"Beer and back scratch" = "Netflix and chill".

tounge

Sounds like situational things can take your mind off of the melancholy, so do what you can and hope for the sun to come back!

Hang in there.

Me too. from Sept 1-Jan 1, i feel the autumn colors, the Holidays, the rush leading up to them and then January hits and its bleak
also, some of my worst depression happens in summer/late summer
spring blossom time can sometimes lift me
